Taiwan Television News website reported on June 16, 2024, at 4:00 AM that today, influenced by the southwest wind, various areas experienced heat, but in the afternoon, due to heat impact, short-term heavy rainfall occurred in mountainous areas and Greater Taipei. The Central Weather Bureau earlier issued a heavy rain special advisory for 13 counties and cities and also issued alerts for rapid rises in stream levels in mountainous areas. Today, convective cloud systems are developing vigorously, increasing the likelihood of short-term heavy rainfall in Greater Taipei, Nantou, and the western mountainous areas, with a chance of strong rain until evening. People are advised to remain vigilant. Additionally, due to lightning strikes, the Maokong Gondola service in Taipei was temporarily suspended. Heavy rain special advisory in effect as brief intense rainfall is anticipated.
