Reported 8 months ago

A Japanese tapir named 'Hero' from Yokohama Zoo in Japan arrived in Taipei Zoo with no signs of life, after being anticipated to arrive on June 21. A subsequent autopsy conducted by Taipei Zoo's veterinary team and National Taiwan University experts confirmed that Hero died primarily due to heat stress, leading to circulatory failure, coagulation disorders, and pulmonary edema. Born on January 12, 2022, in Yokohama Zoo, Hero was brought to Taiwan for genetic exchange, but sadly succumbed to the extreme conditions. His body temperature reached a core temperature of 41 degrees Celsius at the time of death.
