The Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain alert today at 14:50, affecting the afternoon and evening, with Nantou County under heavy rain warning and Taipei City mountainous areas, New Taipei City mountainous areas, Taoyuan City mountainous areas, Hsinchu County mountainous areas, Miaoli County mountainous areas, Taichung City, Yunlin County mountainous areas, Chiayi County mountainous areas, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, and Hengchun Peninsula under heavy rain alert. The CWB warned of strong convective cloud system development leading to short-duration heavy rainfall in Nantou County, with chances of heavy rain in Taichung, southern regions, western mountainous areas, cautioning against lightning strikes, strong gusts, landslides, and rockfall, as well as flooding. A severe thunderstorm alert was also issued affecting Nantou County until 16:00, warning of intense rainfall, lightning, river surges, landslides, mudslides, floods in low-lying areas, and reduced visibility.
