Due to intense convective cloud development in recent days, heavy rain in Hualien has led to multiple landslides, with falling rocks narrowly missing a motorcyclist in Jianshi Township and a family of six trapped in the Clearwater Tunnel on the Suhua Highway. Traffic was also affected on the Central Cross-Island Highway due to falling rocks. Emergency measures, including temporary vehicle relocation and road closures for safety, were implemented by police and authorities to address the situation.
