Heavy Rain Causes Landslides in Hualien, Riders Nearly Hit by Falling Rocks, Vehicles Trapped in Tunnel

A recent strong convective cloud system has led to heavy rain in Hualien for several days, resulting in multiple landslides. In one incident, rocks fell near a motorcyclist in 2.5 km of the 60 Line at Jianshi Township. In another, a family of six returning north encountered a mudslide at the Suao-Hualien Highway's 159 km mark, becoming trapped in the Dachinshui Tunnel. The Bulo Wan section of Provincial Highway 178k of the Central Cross-Island Highway was also affected by large rocks, leading to nighttime closures after 6:30 PM.
