Due to the influence of southwest winds today (14th), there will be brief showers or thunderstorms in southern Taiwan and Matsu, with localized showers or thunderstorms in central Taiwan, Miaoli, eastern mountainous areas, Penghu, and Kinmen. In the afternoon, there will be localized thunderstorms in Greater Taipei, northeastern areas, and other mountainous regions, with a higher chance of heavier rain in southern regions and mountainous areas in the afternoon. Temperatures may reach 32-34 degrees Celsius in most places, peaking at 36 degrees or above in parts of the Hualien-Taitung valley due to the descending effect of southwest winds. The weather bureau also issued a high-temperature warning, particularly for Taitung County where the likelihood of extreme heat is higher, and Hualien County where 36-degree temperatures are expected. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat.
