Reported 12 months ago

In the evening of June 29, 2024, heavy rainfall in the Hualien mountain area led to landslides on two sections of the Su-Hua Highway, with mudflows blocking the road at the 61.2K mark of the old Su-Hua Highway and the Hepingming Tunnel. The roads were temporarily closed with vehicles diverted to the Su-Hua Tunnel. Road closures were announced due to unstable weather conditions and necessary clearing processes, with repairs expected to be completed by 10 p.m. The East Maintenance Engineering Division of the Highway Bureau emphasized safety measures and rerouting of traffic for the affected sections.
