Former Millennium Management Asia executive Jonathan Xiong’s new hedge fund Arrowpoint has secured Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and a unit of Singapore’s Temasek Holdings Pte as anchor investors, aiming to start trading on July 1 with over $1 billion in assets. Arrowpoint is one of the largest Asia hedge fund startups and is focusing on investment strategies such as equity long-short, commodities trading, fixed income, macro, interest rate volatility trading, event-driven, dispersion trading, and more. The fund will have more than 50 employees in Singapore and Hong Kong combined, with plans to expand further and move into a larger Singapore office by January.
