In the midst of uneven rainfall distribution in Mainland China, while the southern regions face continuous torrential rains causing disasters, the northern region's breadbasket, Henan Province, is suffering from severe drought. Local rivers, streams, and ponds have dried up, leading farmers to frantically dig deeper groundwater wells. However, drilling teams admit that they have reached the deepest levels in 30 years, indicating groundwater scarcity. With tens of thousands facing temporary drinking water difficulties, over 20 million mu of autumn crops affected by drought, and over 3 million mu unable to be planted due to dry conditions, groundwater wells have become a precious and rare resource in Henan as farmers eagerly compete for access amidst the dry spell.
