In Hengchun Peninsula of Pingtung County, this year has seen a series of rabies cases in wild animals, including 4 cases of ferret badgers and 1 case of white-nosed heart, totaling 5 wild animal cases. The last occurrence of white-nosed heart case was 7 years ago, with no cases between 2016 and 2023. The county urges the public to follow the 'Two Don'ts One Do' principle to prevent rabies, including avoiding contact with wild animals, not abandoning pets, and annually vaccinating dogs, cats, and artificially raised carnivorous animals against rabies to ensure the safety of pets and themselves.
