The documentary "Seeding Soil" launches a crowdfunding project to showcase the importance of valuing and cherishing the land under our feet. It tells the story of a former NTU graduate and tech engineer who moved to Kaohsiung to produce organic compost from city garbage to address soil issues. Despite facing challenges like plastic contamination in the compost, the individual perseveres. Director Yen Lan-quan believes the film serves as a medium to raise societal awareness and inspire change, aiming to shed light on the struggles of two farmers and provide a platform for viewers to engage with the theme. The documentary has been in production for eight years, capturing 1800 hours of footage with music composed by Taiwanese folk masters, and seeking guidance from a professor at NTU's Department of Agronomy. The filmmakers are now crowdfunding to complete the post-production and secure a theater release to share the story of land recovery with a wider audience.
