On July 8, 2024, former chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation Cheng Wen-tsang, involved in corruption charges, had his bail revoked by the High Court after a previous ruling of 5 million bail and travel restrictions by the district court. The prosecution immediately appealed, and the Taoyuan District Court processed the case as a priority. The High Court deemed unclear whether the defendant could collude or flee, leading to the revocation, with the case to be reheard by the Taoyuan court, taking place on the 9th.
