In a rare riot incident at the Kaohsiung Women's Prison, male guards used shields and pepper spray to suppress female inmates who were protesting against the secretive transfer from Taipei Women's Prison to Kaohsiung. The inmates were upset about the lack of transparency in the relocation process, resulting in chaos where some inmates were not properly dressed while showering, leading to a confrontation with the guards. The Correctional Bureau responded, stating the incident involved four inmates violating rules and causing disorder, leading to the use of pepper spray to subdue them, with subsequent cooperation from the inmates in following disciplinary actions.
