Reported about 1 year ago

Recent severe outbreak of 'flesh-eating bacteria' in Japan has led to over 977 cases of A Streptococcus infections and Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome (STSS) from January to May this year, a 2.8-fold increase compared to the same period last year, with a high mortality rate of 30-50%.
