A Hong Kong woman, known as Little Mei, working in the tourism industry, was penalized 200,000 for sending famous mooncakes containing unquarantined pork ingredients to her Taiwanese friend, Big Zhuang, during a stop in Kaohsiung while visiting Taiwan. Concerned for Little Mei's potential restriction from leaving Taiwan due to the penalty, Big Zhuang felt guilty for the gift leading to the fine and hence paid the penalty for her. The incident serves as a reminder about the severity of African swine fever globally and the consequences of carrying unquarantined pork products into Taiwan.
