A 16-year-old high school student surnamed Chen suffered a cut on his ankle from tiles at the Taoyuan Municipal Pool on July 29 while going for a swim. Despite receiving just basic first aid at the counter, he had to get 2 stitches. After requesting repairs and restoration, he was denied. Upon investigation by councilor Huang Chiung-hui, multiple damaged and repaired tiles were found in the pool, posing risks to swimmers. The Department of Sports has directed the pool's operating contractor to conduct a thorough inspection and improvement of loose tiles. The injured individual was initially treated at the pool and later sought medical help on his own. The facility's operator has reached out to offer assistance with insurance claims and continues to monitor the situation.
