In Taichung, Taiwan, a high school student surnamed Lai allegedly engaged in a 'fake marriage' with a man named Xia shortly before tragically falling to his death from a building just two hours after their marriage registration. Xia was recently convicted of forging documents related to the marriage and sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for making public officials record false information. The court found that there was no genuine intention to marry between Xia and Lai, with Xia manipulating the situation for personal gain by taking advantage of Lai's young age and lack of experience. Xia can still appeal the verdict.
