Construction workers are often exposed to the scorching sun while working on sites during the summer. Last year, labor unions proposed a system for heat leave and heat allowance, pointing out the flaws in the current Occupational Safety and Health Act. Despite penalties in place, a large number of outdoor workplaces violated regulations during heat hazard inspections, with only three companies being penalized. Experts suggest that adding the words 'equipment and facilities' to the relevant section in the law would hold employers more accountable and protect workers' health better.
