On Sunday, some areas experienced intense convection with localized heavy rain in Hsinchu, Taichung, and Nantou mountainous regions reaching over 100 millimeters of rainfall in 3 hours, while the Taipei area also saw heavy rain. Temperatures soared above 36 degrees in most areas, with Yunlin, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Taitung reaching around 38 degrees, and a foehn wind appeared in the southeast. The following week remains hot and the weather forecast is worth checking in advance. For June 24th (Monday), although the Pacific high pressure will weaken slightly, most areas will remain mostly cloudy to clear, with an expanding range of afternoon thunderstorms in the western, northeastern, eastern, and southeastern mountainous regions. Afternoon showers may last longer in the central to northern regions and precautions against heavy rainfall and strong gusts are advised. Increased rainfall may continue into the evening in central to northern areas, while sporadic brief showers are expected in eastern, southeastern regions, and Hengchun Peninsula.
