High Temperatures in Southern Taiwan Cause Various Damages to Aquaculture and Agriculture

Even before summer officially begins, southern Taiwan is already experiencing frequent temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, leading to detrimental effects on various crops and aquaculture. Due to the high water temperature, sea bass aquaculture has suffered abnormal water quality issues resulting in deaths, with losses amounting to nearly one million New Taiwan Dollars. Similarly, watermelons in Tainan are failing to grow to a normal size due to the heat, with losses nearing fifty percent. The extreme temperatures have caused significant concerns for farmers and aquaculture owners, hampering their productivity and leading to substantial economic losses.
