On June 11, 2024, in the afternoon, due to the influence of southwest winds, temperatures in Greater Taipei and Taitung may reach around 36 degrees. Today and tomorrow, intermittent brief showers or thunderstorms are expected in areas south of Miaoli. Caution is advised for potential short-lived torrential rains due to convective movement over coastal and flat areas in the morning, while afternoon thunderstorms may occur in eastern Greater Taipei, Yilan, and mountainous regions. There's a chance of heavy rain in southern areas and various mountainous regions in the afternoon. Throughout the period, temperatures are predicted to range from 32 to 36 degrees across the island. The Central Meteorological Bureau warns of thunderstorms and strong gusts. Take precautions if heading to mountainous areas due to softer soil and potential landslides, falling rocks, and sudden rises in river levels. Tainan and Kaohsiung have been issued heavy rain alerts, and temperatures, especially in Greater Taipei and Taitung, can hit around 36 degrees due to southwestern winds. Be vigilant for sudden changes in weather conditions when participating in water activities by rivers or beaches. The Western Pacific high pressure system is causing the heatwave, leading to hot and humid conditions across Taiwan, especially susceptible are Taitung County areas for the heatwave. Heavy showers may occur in Tainan and Kaohsiung today. The weather is expected to remain similar until the 17th with sporadic thunderstorms and heavy rains in southern and central areas facing west winds. Sunscreen, hydration, and caution against extreme weather are advised by experts.
