A female police officer from the Women and Children's Team of the Kaohsiung Police Department was seriously injured in a car accident, resulting in a broken neck and lifetime paralysis. The driver of the SUV involved in the accident was sentenced to 10 months in prison for causing serious injury due to negligence but reached a settlement with the officer's family, compensating 16.88 million and paying 16.28 million upfront, with the remaining 600,000 to be paid in installments. The driver was granted a suspended sentence of 3 years due to being a young male with a clean record and a legitimate occupation.
