Hiker Falls to Death on Yushan, Management Office Urges Mountain Enthusiasts to Prioritize Safety

Reported 8 months ago

Yushan's main peak is the highest mountain in Taiwan and a popular destination for many hikers. However, the steep terrain and unpredictable weather in the Yushan area pose high risks for climbers. Yesterday morning, a male hiker fell off a cliff about 150 meters from the summit of Yushan main peak while returning from his climb, resulting in a fatal accident. The Yushan National Park management office urges all hikers to pay attention to their steps, hold onto the iron chains, and prioritize their safety when climbing the main peak to prevent tragedies. Rescuers faced challenges in poor weather conditions and low visibility while retrieving the victim's body.
