A hiker in California's Sierra Nevada mountains was rescued after her legs mysteriously went numb, initially believed to be due to a spider bite. However, authorities later discovered that she was accidentally stung by stinging nettles. The hiker called for help before her phone died, and rescuers safely brought her down the trail. Stinging nettles, native to California, can irritate and blister the skin upon contact, causing symptoms like itching, burning, and tingling for over 12 hours.
