Holy Month of Hajj in Mecca Sees Record-High Temperatures of 51.8℃, Resulting in Over 550 Muslim Deaths

During the sacred month of Hajj, approximately 1.8 million Muslims flocked to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, only to encounter terrifying temperatures nearing 52 degrees Celsius. According to local reports, the temperature in the Mecca Grand Mosque reached 51.8 degrees Celsius. At least 550 pilgrims have lost their lives due to the extreme heat, with the majority of fatalities attributed to heat-related illnesses. The Saudi authorities claim to have treated over 2,000 pilgrims for heat-related discomfort but have not provided an exact death toll.
