According to the Taipei City Fire Department, over 70% of residential buildings in Taipei City are over 30 years old, raising concerns about potential fire hazards. Among the common causes of fires in these buildings, electrical factors consistently rank high. To prevent electrical fires, it is essential to adhere to the '5 Do's and 1 Don't' principle: avoid overloading circuits, refrain from bundling or damaging electrical wires, ensure plugs are not moist or damaged, unplug devices when not in use, maintain a safe distance from flammable materials when using heat-generating appliances, and only use electrical appliances with safety certification labels. Additionally, installing residential fire alarms is recommended for early detection of fires. People in Taipei City can obtain one alarm per household from their local fire brigade.
