Honda's profit rose by 8.7% in the April-June quarter, reaching 394.7 billion yen ($2.7 billion), aided by strong sales of hybrid vehicles in Japan and the U.S., and robust motorcycle demand in India and Brazil. Despite challenges from tough competition in China and declining motorcycle sales in Thailand, overall quarterly sales surged nearly 17% to 5.4 trillion yen ($36.7 billion). The company is also adjusting to the rapid shift towards electric vehicles in China, while maintaining its fiscal year profit forecast at 1 trillion yen ($6.8 billion).
