On July 4, 2024, in Hong Kong, a 3-year-old boy was kidnapped while shopping with his mother. The kidnappers demanded over 5 million Hong Kong dollars in ransom. Two Chinese women were arrested by the police, one holding a Hong Kong identity card, in connection with the financial troubles prompting the crime. The boy was rescued unharmed, and investigation is ongoing to determine if he was drugged. The suspects had premeditated the abduction, using a stroller and a suitcase to transport the child.
