A citizen in Taipei sought a caregiver for their elderly family member at a hospital, only to be informed a diagnosis would require six months of treatment with additional costs, suggesting they find a cooperating intermediary. The intermediary fees, along with diagnosis and registration costs, totaled around 40,000 NT dollars. Both the hospital and the intermediary were accused of collusion. Health authorities confirmed such misconduct, with potential fines of up to 500,000 NT dollars. The hospital emphasized it does not cooperate with intermediaries, but citizen complaints indicate otherwise.
