Recent observations in June 22, 2024, show that post-pandemic retail sales have increased, prompting major hotel groups like Regent, Eslite, Lihfu, Caesar, Far Eastern Shangri-La, as well as Taipei Grand Hyatt, Miramar, and Tian Cheng hotels, to actively expand into the retail food and souvenir market. By increasing production capacity through in-house and outsourced OEM methods, developing frozen and ambient temperature products, and focusing on both festive and daily necessity items, these hotels are tapping into the opportunities of the at-home economy and scissor economy. After breaking sales records in 2023, the entire restaurant industry in Taiwan saw a boost, with many hospitality and chain restaurant groups achieving new highs in revenue. To sustain this growth, businesses aim to diversify revenue streams and create new engines for growth.
