On June 24, 2024, at 11:10 PM, the Central Weather Bureau issued a special high-temperature alert for 14 cities and counties in Taiwan, with Yunlin County on red alert for a probability of reaching an extreme high of 38 degrees. Other areas like Pingtung County, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Hualien County are on orange alert for probabilities of continuous 36-38 degree highs. The public is advised to avoid outdoor activities, take precautions when going out, and protect against heat-related injuries.
