Since entering summer on July 4th, Taiwan has been experiencing continuous high temperatures with cases of heatstroke and heat exhaustion. This year's summer feels even hotter than usual, with temperatures soaring up to 43 degrees Celsius and UV levels reaching dangerous levels. Zheng Mingdian, the former director of the Central Weather Bureau, attributed the extreme heat to higher than average sea temperatures surrounding Taiwan, weakening sea breezes' cooling effect coupled with a strong Pacific high-pressure system. Zheng advises people to take precautions, avoid prolonged sun exposure, use sunscreen, stay hydrated, and seek medical help if necessary. It's important for the public to protect themselves from the intense summer heat.
