With the hot weather hitting highs, parents are worried about their babies getting heat strokes. Pediatrician Dr. Wu Han Meng shares 5 tips to prevent and relieve heat strokes in babies, including avoiding sun exposure between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., wearing sun protection gear, staying hydrated, and using portable fans. In case of heat stroke, parents should move the child to a cool place, remove excess clothing, wipe with warm water, cool down physically using fans, and offer some water. Dr. Wu emphasizes that heat stroke can be life-threatening, with symptoms like fever, dry skin, rapid heart rate, dizziness, confusion, dehydration, acute kidney failure, and shock if not treated promptly.
