Due to extreme weather conditions such as warm winters, the flowering rates of lychee and longan in Taichung City, Taiwan have been low this year, leading to a honey production rate of only 20%. Despite the Council of Agriculture including beekeepers as disaster relief recipients, the beekeeping industry is still facing operational difficulties. Beekeepers are experiencing significant losses with high input costs and low honey yields, as well as challenges like using artificial methods for pollination leading to bee poisoning and decreased bee populations due to high temperatures.
