The Huangpu Centennial School Celebration event, held today (6/16) at the Military Academy in Kaohsiung, was chaired by President Lai Ching-te who emphasized 'defending national sovereignty,' stating that there must be sovereignty for a country, and for Taiwan to exist the Republic of China must exist, reiterating 'no one can underestimate the enemy.' However, right after Lai Ching-te finished his speech, a military school student suddenly knelt on one knee, due to heat exhaustion. The student was seen kneeling down, trying to stand up but unable to due to the intense heat, and was eventually helped out of the crowd. With the temperature reaching 31 degrees in Kaohsiung this morning, the school still needs further investigation to confirm if heat exhaustion was the cause.
