In June, the U.S. recorded a budget surplus of about $27 billion, primarily driven by tariff revenues that surged to $26.6 billion, significantly higher than the prior year. This increase in revenues, coupled with a $187 billion decrease in government spending, helped the federal government collect more than it spent, despite facing a substantial overall budget deficit of approximately $1.3 trillion for the fiscal year.
