HTC, the Taiwanese tech company, announced it will sell part of its extended reality (XR) unit to Google for $250 million, with the deal expected to close in the first quarter of this year. This transaction also involves transferring some employees to Google and reflects an ongoing partnership between the two companies, following Google's previous acquisition of part of HTC's smartphone operations in 2017 for $1.1 billion. HTC will retain the rights to its intellectual property and continue to develop it independently.
