Hu Ge Acknowledges Strong Taiwanese Accent in Local Dialect in 'The Blooms,' Soaring to 30 Episodes in Shanghainese

Reported 7 months ago

In Hu Ge's first television drama with director Wong Kar-wai, 'The Blooms,' which aims to faithfully portray the original scenes of Shanghai from the 1960s to 1990s, most actors performed in Shanghainese. During his visit to Taiwan, Hu Ge mentioned his Mandarin with a Shanghainese accent, with friends noting a Taiwanese accent. Hu Ge humorously validated this by saying, 'That makes me even happier, showing we are not 'dimly' different, hahaha.' The series, adapted from author Jin Yucheng's novel, follows a worker in 1960s Shanghai, Ah Bao, as he rises to become a prominent figure in the business world, with themes of familial ties and personal struggles. 'The Blooms' airs on MyVideo starting June 14th, with 5 episodes released weekly.
