Wong Kar-wai's first directed TV drama 'Blooming Flowers' is set to premiere on MyVideo, depicting Hu Ge's character transforming from a worker to a prominent figure in the business world. Wong, who grew up in Hong Kong with siblings living in Shanghai, states that the drama adaptation explores what led the protagonist to become successful. As 'Blooming Flowers' gains popularity, the term '不響 (not ringing)' becomes a trending keyword due to its significance in the series, symbolizing a creator's attitude towards what they choose to convey. With the aim of portraying the 60s to 90s Shanghai authentically, Wong had most actors use Shanghainese during filming before providing Mandarin versions, sparking a resurgence in the use and interest in Shanghainese among viewers.
