Hualien County Fire Department faced challenges in extinguishing a fire at Dong Hwa University's chemical laboratory due to the limitations of their foam-type chemical fire trucks. As a result, the county government is aiming to purchase different types of chemical fire trucks to handle water-resistant chemicals, planning to add 5 chemical fire trucks and 2 chemical disaster response vehicles by 2029 to enhance their disaster response capabilities. This move is in response to the unique chemical storage needs in factories, hospitals, and school laboratories within the county.
