Recently in Hualien, Taiwan, residents have been experiencing low water pressure and discolored tap water due to high turbidity in the Sohpo Reservoir Water Treatment Plant after the earthquake. As a result, over 20,000 households have been affected, with suggestions to dig underground wells for backup water sources to tackle the environmental crisis caused by loose soil and muddy rivers. Efforts by Taiwan Water Corporation are ongoing to address the abnormal water supply situation and improve the water source diversity to prevent future water supply crises.
