Hualien continues to suffer from the effects of the 403 earthquake, with the latest statistics from the Ministry of Labor showing an increase of 153 people on unpaid leave, particularly impacting the lodging, food and beverage, transportation, and entertainment industries in Hualien. The government has implemented policies to address the situation, with hopes for improvement. The Taroko National Park is undergoing reconstruction post-disaster, aiming to reopen gradually by the end of the year. Most industries implementing reduced working hours have less than 50 employees and operate for less than 3 months. The manufacturing sector still has the highest number of unpaid leave cases, with the metal and electrical industries being the most affected.
