Recent heavy rainfall caused erosion in various areas, leading to murky water at the Hualien water source intake point, Sukod River. As a result, water supply was reduced, affecting up to 20,000 households in Hualien and Ji'an, with some experiencing water pressure drops or even water stoppages. Taiwan Water Corporation set up 22 temporary water supply stations for the public. Normal water supply is expected to resume as early as tomorrow. The company cites the need for continued water source development and maintenance to address challenges arising from increased turbidity due to heavy rain, which might become a regular issue impacting water quality.
