Hualien Zhuoxi Mountain Incident: 4 Climbers, 1 Dead, 1 Unconscious, Air Force Sends Black Hawk Helicopter for Rescue

On the morning of June 27, 2024, the Air Force dispatched a rescue mission in Zhuoxi Township, Hualien County, where a group of 4 climbers encountered a tragic incident while hiking in the Warami Mountain area. Due to the extreme heat, a 66-year-old climber surnamed Yang went into shock and passed away, while a 60-year-old female climber surnamed Gu lost consciousness. The Air Force sent a Black Hawk helicopter from the Hualien Air Base to successfully rescue them. The climbers were attempting the challenging 'Xinkang Traverse' route, one of Taiwan's fifth most difficult cross-mountain routes.
