Huang Hsiung-hsiung: Foreign Intervention in Taiwan's Defense Decision-Making Could Become a Heavy Burden for Lai Ching-te

Reported 8 months ago

Taipei Political and Economic Academy Foundation's 'Peace and Security Center' released the '2024 Defense Evaluation Report,' where former Control Yuan member and foundation chairman Huang Hsiung-hsiung pointed out concerns over foreign influence in Taiwan's defense decisions during President Tsai Ing-wen's second term, potentially burdening President Lai Ching-te. Huang mentioned that the recent increase in military operations, personnel, and budgets reflects significant external pressures in decision-making, with foreign governments influencing Taiwan's defense policies, particularly prominent in Tsai's second term. This trend could pose a historical burden for the Lai administration.
