Huang Renxun, CEO of Nvidia, stirred controversy when he referred to Taiwan as 'one of the most important countries in the world' during a press conference at the COMPUTEX Taipei. This statement upset Chinese netizens and prompted an official response from China's Taiwan Affairs Office. The office criticized Huang's 'extremely erroneous remarks' and reiterated that Taiwan is part of China, not a separate country. They urged Huang to 'learn well,' and also criticized Taiwan's educational curriculum for promoting anti-mainland China sentiments, inviting Taiwanese students to come to the mainland to experience Chinese culture and make up for what they feel is lacking in their education.
