The Huang Renxun couple has been donating part of their Nvidia stock to their charity foundation Jen-Hsun & Lori Huang Foundation for the past 20 years. As of the end of 2022, the foundation holds more than 69 million Nvidia shares, valued at over $8 billion due to the stock's rise. Apart from their disclosed donations, the couple's charitable assets are substantial, including a donor-advised fund holding $4.4 billion worth of Nvidia stock for charitable purposes. The foundation has donated approximately $65 million to external non-profit organizations, notably supporting Stanford University and Oregon State University. However, debates in the charity sector persist as wealthy individuals utilize such fund structures for tax benefits while reducing actual charitable contributions received by organizations. Despite growing concerns and scrutiny, the foundation operated by the Huang couple functions with only the couple involved, working an hour per week without any compensation or significant operational expenses.
