President Lai Ching-te attended the 100th anniversary celebration of the establishment of Huangpu in Kaohsiung on June 16, 2024. During his speech, he emphasized 'mutual non-subordination across the strait' and rejected the surrenderism of 'first battle, last battle'. Former legislator Kuo Zhengliang criticized Lai Ching-te for his remarks at the celebration, pointing out that the 'first battle, last battle' theory was put forth by the Ministry of National Defense of Tsai Ing-wen's administration, describing Lai's words as 'quite low-level'. Kuo further discussed the historical continuity of Huangpu and highlighted contradictions in Lai's recent statements.
