Huawei's AI Chip Huawei Crushes Nvidia's AI Chips

Reported 7 months ago

Under sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies on the semiconductor industry, Chinese tech companies like Huawei have been forced to focus on independent research and development. Huawei's subsidiary HiSilicon recently developed the Ascend 910B AI chip, which has achieved an efficiency of 80% of Nvidia's A100 chip in training large language models. This has led to Tencent, Baidu, and other Chinese tech giants purchasing the Ascend 910B chips, posing a threat to Nvidia's market share in China. Despite Huawei's advancements, there remains a significant gap in AI chip expertise compared to Nvidia, whose H100 chip showcases superior performance capabilities over the A100.
