At the 35th Annual Meeting of Academicians of the Central Research Institute held in Taipei on the afternoon of June 30, 2024, with over 200 domestic and foreign academicians attending, concerns arise as the number of approved nominees in the Humanities Division is below ten, possibly setting a record low for new fellows elected, reflecting a decline in interest or support for humanities research. The meeting also addressed issues related to the behaviors and ethical standards of institute academicians in light of recent events involving academicians during the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement in Hong Kong.
